What goes wrong
- Steel coils need the right flatbed or side-wall trailer, coil chocks / cradles, and securing - a wrong bed damages cargo and fails the weighbridge.
- Mill and stockyard dispatch windows leave little room for late vehicles or incomplete papers at the gate.
- Axle limits and GVW surprises turn a cheap spot truck into a refused load or a fine on the corridor.
- Plates, TMT, billets, and long structurals need different loading patterns than coils - one “steel truck” story does not fit all.
How we run it
- 1.Own side-wall and 40 ft flatbed trailers for coil and long-product programs; open body where lengths and site rules fit.
- 2.Coil moves planned with securing and weighbridge language before the truck is allotted - not after it arrives at the mill.
- 3.Repeat mill-to-fabricator, mill-to-warehouse, and stockyard lanes under contract or dedicated capacity so the class stays locked.
- 4.Labeled network trailers when a mill program needs more coil capacity than we own that day.
- 5.TMS on contracted trips for status and e-POD so procurement is not chasing WhatsApp after dispatch.

Allotment is timed to mill and stockyard windows. Papers and vehicle class are confirmed before gate-in so the bay is not waiting on the wrong trailer.
